Penstar eNote Pro 10.3″ Color E Ink Paper Tablet — First Impressions?

Look, picking a digital notebook is usually a headache because you have to choose between features. I was looking at the Penstar eNote Pro recently and it seems to try and do everything at once. It’s a color e-ink tablet that runs Android, and here is what I found after looking at the specs.

The Screen

The main reason you would look at this is the screen. It uses a 10.3-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display. If you are just reading regular documents, it looks sharp because it has 300 PPI resolution.

But here is how the color works. When you view comics or color charts, the resolution drops to 150 PPI. That is standard for this technology, but it is something you should know. It also has a front light you can adjust so you can read in the dark.

How You Control It

Some of these tablets are annoying because they don’t have touchscreens. This one actually does. It supports both pen input and full finger touch.

But writing on a touchscreen can get messy if your hand hits the wrong thing. So Penstar added a “pen-only” sidebar menu. It stops accidental finger taps when you are trying to write. Also, there are five physical buttons on the side that you can customize. Honestly, having real buttons to turn pages or switch tools is just faster than tapping a screen.

It Runs Android

A lot of e-readers feel slow or have limited software. This one runs on Android 14. That is actually pretty new for an e-ink device.

Inside, it has an Octa-core 2.2GHz processor and 4GB of RAM. You get 128GB of storage too, which is plenty for PDFs.

The cool part is the audio stuff. It has four microphones and can record meetings. Then it uses AI to turn that voice recording into text in real time. It even supports over 50 languages for that.

The Price and Bundle

It costs $499.00. That sounds expensive, but it includes the accessories. You get the premium B6 stylus and a magnetic folio cover in the box. They even throw in a spare kit with 10 nibs.

Who Is This For?

This isn’t an iPad. You aren’t going to watch videos on it. But if you need to mark up color documents or want a notebook that can type out your meetings for you, this might work for you. It syncs with Google Drive and Dropbox too, so your notes don’t get stuck on the device.
