Bigme just released their newest phone, the Bigme HiBreak S—and it’s a departure from their past flagship devices. This model is smaller and designed for everyday users.
What is the fuss about?
The HiBreak S features a 5.84-inch E Ink display. Bigme claims the phone is faster and more stable than earlier models because it runs on Android 14. An Octa-Core chip powers the device, which includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can expand the storage up to 1TB with a MicroSD card.
The phone uses XRapid “SSS” Fast Refresh, a standout feature, to keep up with quick usage.
Crucially, the HiBreak S is a fully functional smartphone. You can make calls, send texts, and even watch videos, though E Ink screens are not ideal for video.
Additional features include BigmeGPT, their built-in AI assistant. The phone also has dual HD cameras and offers 36-level warm and cool lighting for comfortable viewing.
Cons
I have a few concerns, however. First, the 276 PPI display resolution feels outdated; upcoming devices like the Boox Palma Pro 2 will offer 300 PPI. Bigme hasn’t confirmed the screen type, but it might be older Carta 1000 technology, which is inferior to Carta 1300.
Second, Bigme has a reputation for buggy software. I sincerely hope this device marks a turning point, and that Bigme resolved those issues.
Despite these issues, I am excited about the HiBreak S. It could be a great phone. Users who want the benefits of E Ink in a compact, phone-friendly package may find it ideal.
