DASUNG Launches World’s First 50Hz E Ink Tablets: Not-eReader 078/103

Dasung has announced its new Revolutionary Edition E Ink Tablets. The company claims these two models—the Dasung Not-eReader 078 Revolutionary Edition and the Dasung Not-eReader 103 Revolutionary Edition —are the world’s first E Ink tablets to feature a 50 Hz refresh rate.

This development is huge, as E Ink typically suffers from a slow refresh rate, making it better suited for reading static content than for motion.

World’s First 50 Hz E Ink

THE 50 HZ REFRESH RATE IS A BIG SELLING POINT. It promises to deliver smoother E Ink motion and interaction. Users should notice negligible or minimized stuttering and reduced frame drops.

Consequently, scrolling will become smoother, and video playback will also improve significantly. While a 50 Hz E Ink panel still falls short of LCD or OLED displays, which start at 60 Hz on the lower end, it still represents a major step toward a much smoother UI, better video and animation playback, and an overall better reading experience with reduced ghosting.

The Specs

Both new tablets feature 1872*1404 resolution panels and utilize a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Dasung introduced two models, distinguished by screen size and unique features. The Not-eReader 078 Revolutionary Edition uses a 7.8-inch E Ink display and comes with specific hardware details. Its hardware includes a 300 PPI resolution, 4 GB RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. A 5400 mAh battery powers the device, and Dasung expects it to last at least a couple of days.

The Not-eReader 078 functions strictly as a tablet device and does not support display-as-monitor functionality. It lacks the external monitor or mirroring features some earlier Dasung products offered

The larger Not-eReader 103 Revolutionary Edition features a 10.3-inch E Ink display. This model shares the same 1872*1404 display resolution. Although the company has not specifically mentioned the 300 PPI pixel density as it did for the 078, reports suggest both tablets employ higher-density panels at the stated resolution.

Dasung has previously demonstrated its commitment to high refresh rate E Ink technology, having launched the Paperlike 103 E Ink monitor in January 2025 with a 60 Hz refresh rate, and the Paperlike 13K monitor in April 2025 with a 37 Hz refresh rate.

Dasung has not yet revealed details regarding pricing and availability for the new Revolutionary Edition E Ink tablets. The company has not announced when the tablets will be available for pre-order, hit store shelves, or be introduced globally.
