Amazon Sets NEW Kindle Scribe Colorsoft Release Date: December 10

Amazon has finally given a release date for its new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and the regular Kindle Scribe. A spokesperson told The Verge that you can buy them starting December 10th.

They aren’t taking preorders this time. You just have to wait for the launch day to buy one. The prices are the same as what they announced back in September. It’s $629.99 for the Colorsoft and $499.99 for the Scribe that includes the front light.

The new Scribes have bigger 11-inch screens but they are super thin. They weigh 400 grams and are only 5.4mm thick.

Amazon says the screens use a new “texture-molded glass.” Basically, it is supposed to improve the friction when the pen glides across the screen. The idea is to make it feel more like real paper. The versions with the front light use a new system with miniature LEDs, too.

Also, they come with a new pen. It has stronger magnets for snapping to the side of the device. That is a nice fix since weak magnets are annoying.

But if you wanted the cheaper one. The affordable $429.99 Scribe without a front light won’t be available on December 10th. That one is still set to launch sometime in 2026.
